About Clinton Marina Sailing club
Our Story
Clinton Marina Sailing Club is an auxiliary of the Commodore Decatur Yacht Club. CMSC was established in 2025 to ensure the continuity of marina-based sailing programs and regattas at the Clinton Marina following the exit of the Clinton Lake Sailing Association. We offer Learn to Sail Days and we are proud to host the Glow in the Dark Regatta and weeknight Beer Can Racing. CMSC works in cooperation with Flying Scot Fleet 135, Clinton Lake Marina & Campground, Shore House Bar & Grill, and 32 Marine.

Sea Leg Saturdays
Beginner instruction and coaching takes place just 40 min to the south at our parent club Commodore Decatur Yacht Club on Lake Decatur. We offer a free introductory sailboat ride for prospective members and complimentary instruction and coaching every Saturday for members (only $100/year), all season long. Once you develop your "sea legs", you will have the option to race with Flying Scot fleet on Clinton Lake. Beer Can Racing
Clinton Marina Sailing Club works in cooperation with Flying Scot Fleet 135 to host Beer Can Racing at Clinton Marina on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Getting on a sailboat is as easy as signing up and showing up, and checking in with our coordinator for your boat assignment. Our most accomplished racers are assigned to help coach beginner and intermediate racers. The goal is always to have fun and get better. Beer can racing is a casual, social, and relaxed form of sailboat racing. It's a great way for both experienced and novice sailors to enjoy the sport, focusing on fun and camaraderie rather than intense competition. Learn to Sail Days
Clinton Marina Sailing Club now offers Learn to Sail Days at Clinton Marina. We customize your sailing experience based on your goals and objectives. You to pick the day, you pick the format, you select the boat, and you choose who you sail with. The instructor is focused on you the entire day. Make it a private lesson or invite family and friends. We can sail on your boat or we can sail on one aclub flying scot or cabin boats Intructors who are available weekdays and weekends, and we can all day or plan for the afternoon/evening. We can even break it up into two half-day sessions.
Recreational Sailing
There are no organized sailing activities for recreational sailors at Clinton Lake, but that is only because recreational sailors generally prefer relaxation, less structure, and fewer rules. Clinton Lake is a great place to escape is go for a casual sail, especially with the introduction of the brand-new Shore House Bar & Grill. Our parent club Commodore Decatur Yacht Club offers complimentary access to recreational sailboat options on Lake Decatur, our club boat options on Clinton Lake are currently limited to racing for now. Camaraderie
You don't need to be a member of our sailing club to hang out with us at our "clubhouse". After we enjoy some fun on the water, we like to congregate at the Shore House Bar & Grill. If you are a new slip renter, there is unofficial group chat with a small handful of other slip renters, that is not affiliated with the marina or any club, to help you more easily get connected with other sailors at the marina.
